Being plastic not metal

Used the feeder for hogs and turkey's. Only issues were the feeder is plastic and coons and squirrels chew on the feeder, tear the battery door off and solar panel door off. No way to lock either door so they cannot destroy it.

Replacement Feeder for original that quit after 2 years.

This gets a bad rap in my opinion. I purchased this one to replace one that quit working after 2 years. I love the all in one design and if you face the solar panel to the south and keep it cleaned off your battery will stay topped off. I was able to take the 4 screws off the side and slide it into place on the existing bracket without emptying a full 55 gallon feeder! Note: I originally bought the Used one on Amazon and although it looked NIB it would not turn on....

doors don't latch

after opening the compartment doors for the first time they wont stay latched so the battery doesn't stay in contact with the terminals therefore it wont stay on. i have to tape or zip tie it closed and put something in the battery compartment to bake the battery stay in contact.

Works decent

It took quite a while to get this up and running. It did not fit my feeder as advertised (same brand). A little modification and I had it mounted. The biggest issue is the battery. The battery compartment has to be stuffed with padding between the battery and the door in order for it to make contact. There is to much slop and any movement loses contact rendering the unit inoperative. The timer took a bit to program, but it seems to bee working fine the last week.

Did not work

Product arrived fast…..but when out at the ranch and battery was installed to program it would not turn on…installed several different batteries finally turned on and motor would not turn….ran several test different batteries fully charged and still motor would not turn….sent two different message’s to vendor and been two weeks and no response from them so I’m stuck with a bad item

Don't buy!

I bought this 3 months ago. Just installed. Motor is barely getting enough juice to put out corn and return window is closed. Tried 3 tested batteries too. Sad because when these came out years ago they were the best

Not well designed

My 3 year old Sunslinger (the old model) has worked well. Finally, it would not take charge a battery, so I purchased the new Sunslinger 2. The old unit came with a battery, but the new one did not. Amazon suggested to buy a specific lead-acid batter with terminal poles, which I did. It arrived quickly, but the battery does not fit. This unit takes a standard lantern battery, with spring terminals, which I then ordered. The unit has a "Fast-Lock" attachment capability, but there was no "Fast-Lock" plate included, and I cannot find anywhere to purchase one. What this means, is the corn feeder must be completely emptied and taken down before you can install with the (too small) bolts provided. To avoid that, I had to remove the small nuts inserted into the mounting holes (to receive the bolts), drill the mounting holes out to a larger size, and mount the unit to my feeder with sheet metal screws. Then, to top it all off, the lid to the battery container (on which the solar charger is mounted) will not close tightly, so I had to wrap a piece of wire around the entire unit to hold it in place. It definitely looks like this unit was rushed to market before all the details were thought out. One good thing, the new unit is much more stable. The old one was fairly flimsy, and kept shifting from its position below the hole in the feeder barrel. Also, the new one has a varmint guard, which should keep squirrels and birds from stealing corn. I would wait until these difficulties are smoothed out before purchasing this unit. Or buy something else.

Waste of money

Pure junk. I’m sure they think it’s an upgrade from the metal sunslinger. Doors don’t latch. Plastic is worthless. I have metal sunslingers that are 10y/o and spent the entire time in the woods. The plastic one didn’t last a year and the raccoons have broken the plastic doors off of it!
